Description
Moody Engineering performed civil engineering services on the Parker Woods Montessori School for the Cincinnati Public School District. The project included demolition of an existing PK-6 school and construction of a new PK-6 school on the site. Civil Engineering services included laying out and grading new drop-off, parking, walks, playgrounds, and fire truck access on a topographically challenging site. Stormwater detention was incorporated through bioswales and underground arched chamber systems in order to meet Cincinnati’s release requirements. A 709 foot public water main extension was required in order to supply sufficient fire flows to the site from the city distribution system. New utility services lines were added to serve the new building.

The challenges on this site were primarily related to the topography of its location on the top of a significant hill. Site amenities had to be incorporated to minimize construction of costly retaining walls while providing the required functions.
