Description
Moody Engineering performed civil engineering services for the conversion of an existing former industrial building into the new Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) Innovation Center for Otterbein University. Civil Engineering services included rehabilitation and expansion of the parking lot around the site and providing new water service to meet the renovated buildings fire suppression needs. Moody Engineering performed reviews with the City of Westerville staff for city approval of the proposed changes to the building and site. Stormwater controls were designed to collect stormwater after adding curb and modifying the existing parking lots as well as adding detention and bioretention to meet Westerville and Ohio EPA requirements for stormwater quantity and quality controls.
Moody Engineering coordinated the civil engineering through two separate architects on the project. Our team was able to break the scope of the improvements into three phases to accommodate the availability of funding spread over a three year period. The drawings had to be broken down into phased submissions in order to obtain approval from Westerville for the broken out work.
