Description
Moody Engineering provided site civil engineering for the renovation and expansion of the multi-generational Milo Grogan Recreation Center. The existing building was gutted and re-built with new walls, finishes, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The former facility was a maze of hallways and classrooms too small to be used effectively. The renovation opens up the interior and allows a single staff person to have casual supervision of the entry and the activity areas.

A new 7,000 SF gymnasium addition provides much needed indoor basketball courts. Reconfigured spaces in the center include a new group exercise studio, an arts and crafts room, larger fitness area and a catering kitchen that can be use as a demonstration kitchen for nutrition classes. A dividable partition in the multipurpose room allows groups of all sizes to engage in classes or meetings. New windows were added to the existing structure to introduce natural daylight, and new brick infill and perforated metal panels enlivened the building elevations. The Milo Grogan Recreation Center is also now ADA compliant, making it easy to navigate for the entire community.
