Description
The new Franklin County Sheriff’s Training Facility at 6373 Young Road in Grove City, OH, is a part of an expansion to the current Sheriff’s Training Academy, Firing Range and Support Building Complex. The new facility complements the existing complex in its close proximity and adds an additional 159 parking spaces.

The civil engineering services included site layout, grading, storm, and water service plans. A septic system was also incorporated with coordination with a septic designer. The design included stormwater management plan to account for water quality and detention requirements for the development. Additionally, during the course of the design, an issue was identified with the release from the existing pond on-site that was causing the water level to remain too high. Moody Engineering prepared plans for an open channel release to resolve the issue that had been caused by an obstructed drainage tile combined with inadequate planned overflow. Roller compacted concrete was designed as an alternative paving for the parking lot and was ultimately accepted for the project.

The 25,000 SF building earned LEED Silver certification and includes public spaces, educational areas, employee spaces, administrative offices, multipurpose/lecture room and a fitness area with adjacent locker rooms and showers.
